2007 IBIM Institute "I Believe In Me" became the vision of Founder, and President, Adella M. Dixon, MSW. For over 20 years she has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience as an:

This experience helped her incorporate a strength-based approach especially with single-mother families helping them understand the importance of underlying the strengths within their family. Of the many challenges she observed within the families she served, it was the lack of self-esteem in daughters that prompted her to start the IBIM Institute. A self-esteem enhancement program that provides young ladies the ability to elevate themselves by strengthening their bond with their mother or caregiver.
In 2011 Mrs. Dixon started noticing that majority of the young ladies participating in her after-school programs were scholar athletes attending Imani Christian Academy. They were young ladies very comfortable and confident in who they are. Their pride and confidence pleased her so much that she asked each one, sixteen young ladies who played middle and high school basketball to answer this question,
"Why am I happy with myself?"
After reviewing their answers, it was clear to her that playing and training for basketball helped each one with their confidence, their leadership and their ability to overcome adversity. Traits she very seldom saw in the daughters of the families she served. With the help of her husband Tru Dixon and now the Program Director, for IBIM Institute. He is affectionally known as Coach Tru to all, using his thirty-plus years of counseling, mentoring, teaching, coaching, training and developing young teens has helped IBIM Institute create and implement a basketball fitness program for IBIM's young ladies, "TRUNIVERSITY or TRU-U".

Our Mission
IBIM Institute is a non-profit organization, whose mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, fitness-based curriculum which creatively integrates basketball skill-building to strengthen girls emotionally, physically, and behaviorally to successfully navigate life experiences.
